We are a sourdough-focused bakery making a variety of bread from our original and sesame-topped loaves, to our rotating specialty loaves.  Our beloved sourdough chocolate chip cookies have also become a local favorite within the Charleston area.  We focus on simple and quality ingredients, and allow for a 48-hour ferment, making our baked goods very digestible, even for those with sensitive stomachs.

Welcome! I'm Harry Clark, owner of Radical Bread Co. My sourdough journey started back in 2017 when a co-worker brought me a loaf of sourdough. It was a terrible-tasting loaf of bread, but through this process I made my own starter and thus began my baking journey.  What started out as a hobby, turned into an obsession.  A few years later, lots of books, and many bad loaves, Radical Bread Co. was formed out of our kitchen in Mount Pleasant.  We sold locally to people via Nextdoor, and quickly grew out of our house.  Today we reside in a kitchen space in North Charleston where we are serving both local customers and commercial accounts.

Classic Sourdough Loaves

Three ingredients: flour, water and salt. Our 9 year-old starter slowly ferments our dough for a slightly tangy and soft, decadent crumb.  We use a higher hydration recipe yielding a more open crumb and giving it a longer natural shelf life.

Our sesame seeded sourdough is rolled in sesame-seeds. Sesame seeds give that extra umami bite that has quickly become one of our most popular loaves of bread.

Sourdough Specialties

We have a variety of rotating specialty loaves which are debuted monthly.  Variations include breads such as: seeded whole wheat, deli rye or other breads with inclusions such as dried fruits and nuts. Each specialty loaf has been carefully crafted to take your tastebuds on an unforgettable journey.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Our sourdough chocolate chip cookie is where the quality of ingredients really shines.  We use European butter and high quality Belgian Chocolate to bring you what we believe is the best chocolate chip cookie that money can buy.  Butter is browned and incorporated into the dough with lots of chocolate.  We use only as much sugar as necessary to compliment the ingredients without making an overly sweet cookie.  The addition of some vanilla and our sourdough starter combined with a cold proof makes a rich, yet complex cookie that will have you coming back for more.
